What is a Forest School anyway?

The Woodland Sauna Club is a way for kids to have real learning experiences and for adults to chill out - all in nature

You walk down the track to the farm where a group of people are waiting for you there. There are children and their respective adults. You say goodbye to your little one before heading off for your 90 minutes of bliss in a woodfired sauna amidst the birds and trees. But what will the younger section of your party be getting up to whilst you relax? It turns out they will also be with the birds and trees - just in a different way.

This is a belief that children grow best when they have space to explore, imagine and take gentle, meaningful risks. In a world that has become busy and screen‑heavy, Harriet and team offer something very simple: time outdoors, fresh air, and room to breathe.

No screens, no rush, no pressure. Just real experiences that build confidence, resilience and joy. Think climbing, balancing, building, getting muddy, solving problems and freely discovering capabilities without adults in the driving seat.

These sessions are for the most part, child‑led. There are no curriculum expectations, no pressure to join in, and no “right way” to play. As long as our simple safety rules are respected, children are free to follow their own rhythm. If they want to climb, they climb. If they want to build, they build. And if they simply want to sit quietly, listen to the birds, and hear the river flowing nearby — that’s more than okay. That’s part of the magic.

Our sessions are £15 for adults and £10 for kids. Saturdays are for kids aged 4-8yrs. Sundays are for 8-12 yrs. The sessions start at 13:15, and end at 15:15, with 15 minutes to drop off and pick up. Please arrive promptly!

If your children are siblings who fall into different age brackets there is some flexibility, so please get in touch. Likewise if a child is older than 12, we can be flexible within reason.

Here in LS4, we’ve created a quiet pocket of nature where imaginations open, and children can simply be themselves.
