Who can buy shares and become a member?
Anyone over the age of 16 can become a member by buying shares in Leeds Community Sauna. One share is £1. The minimum investment is £25 and the maximum investment is £10,000
What are community shares?
Community Shares, in this case, mean withdrawable shares in our Cooperative Society. When you invest in community shares, you’ll become an investor member of our co-operative, and we’ll use the capital you’ve invested to get the sauna up and running.
We'll pay a modest rate of interest on your investment, and after three years, we've modelled for 5% of investors to be able to withdraw your money (providing we're doing well as a business and have sufficient trading surpluses!). We would look to increase this withdrawal capacity if our trading surpluses make it possible.
You can't sell your shares to someone else, and they won't ever increase in value, but they're a fantastic way to support community businesses like ours.
Read our share offer document for much more information about how community shares work, and what being an investor member means!

What will the share capital raised be used for?
We're aiming to raise £74K to open our new community sauna space in Kirkstall. We've secured our site, built our first sauna, and prepared the ground with a robust business plan, but we need to cover all the costs of building our second sauna and the site, which is what we are raising capital for.

What do members get?
-
Ownership of our sauna and the Society's assets, alongside our other members
-
A vote at our AGM, and on other important issues facing the society
-
3% interest paid on your shareholding, which will be paid annually from Year 2
-
The ability to withdraw your share capital and get your money back, with capital being made available for withdrawal from Year 4 onwards subject to the financial situation of the business

This is an opportunity to join us as an investor member and help set up Leeds’ first community-oriented, affordable sauna space, launching in the Autumn of this year.
